Tods Shoe Driving Moccasin, not just for the car

posted by: jitterbugbaby in Cole Haan Shoes, Flats, Stuart Weitzman Shoes, Tod's Shoes on March 14th, 2007

One of the pairs of shoes I identify as an essential basic for any well-rounded shoe wardrobe is a driving moccasin. Its practical. Its stylish. Its comfortable. And its classic. A true driving moc doesnt have a full sole. It usually has small rubber treads spread all along the sole and rising a bit on the heel of the shoe (think of giving your foot traction when youve got it on the pedals of a car). Sometimes, itll have a rubber split sole, and sometimes its hybridized (see the Cole Haan Air Treva below) to give you a full sole for the support.

Hmm… I actually dont have a driving moc at the moment, and that situation really should be remedied. Maybe Ill snap up one of the following options.

When you think of driving mocs, the first company that comes to mind is probably Tods. Theyre known for this shoe, and its a beaut. And theyve developed it into a whole line. Never thought a driving moc could have so many variations of style (let alone color)? Think again.

This penny-loafer styled version (the Heaven Gommini Loafer) is available for $345 at eLuxury.

Heres one with a metal accent for $325.

Looking for something a little more basic, heres a plain-front version (also $325).

Or a sailor-inspired version in a bright spring yellow ($345).

And those are just a few from Tods.

Someone else you might associate with the driving moc is one of my favorite brands, Cole Haan. Not only are their shoes true classics and well-made, but many of them now come with Nike Air technology which adds to the comfort factor bigtime.

Just look at the adorable Air Treva (available in black leather or black patent for a more wallet-friendly $185).

Or check out the Jillie, on sale at the moment for $100in multiple widths, I might addand available in this snazzy metallic gold color.

And look at these perforated leather Stuart Weitzman Lincolns. I love the leather and metal trim. These also come in multiple widths, and you can snag them for $235 at Nordstrom.com.

With any of these, you can zoom around in your (real or imaginary) convertible, living the high life. Or… you know… have a nice pair of shoes to wear to work or around town running errands.
